 Straight Through Processing (STP) using Business Process Management (BPM). Business Process Management is a field of knowledge at the intersection between management and information technology, encompassing methods, techniques and tools to design, enact, control, and analyse operational business processes involving humans, organisations, applications, documents and other sources of information.
In short, Business Process Management is a management model that allows organisations to manage their processes as any other assets and improve and manage them over the period of time. In a medium to large organisation scenario, a good business process management system allows business to accommodate day to day changes in business processes due to competitive, regulatory or market challenges in business processes without overly relying on IT departments. This strikes a fine balance between dynamic business areas that want to avoid every risk and grab every opportunity on their way through agile changes in their business but are very often restricted by a very stable and hard to change IT infrastructure.
The activities which constitute business process management can be grouped into five categories: Design, Modelling, Execution, Monitoring, Optimisation.

The Communication Grid can help you take information from any supplier in any format and import directly to a variety of databases. The Communication Grid can also extract information from databases or export to other internal applications and to external recipients.
If you are responsible for maintaining routines for handling differing information help is at hand. The Communication Grid has been developed to simplify and standardise the handling of these tasks. It replaces suites of bespoke programs which now may be unsupported or difficult to change.

Part of the OPENCITI Project from Neville & Rowe, the Communication Grid is available as an Open Source product. As a .NET program, Communications Grid runs in Windows and can be scheduled to run when convenient to the business. Additional plugins and components for specific systems such as SimCorp Dimension are commercially available from Neville & Rowe. The data conversion process produces its output in XML, a universal format that can be easily updated into a variety of database systems.
